Hello Friends,
This hearty sunflower infused loaf is based on loaves I’ve enjoyed throughout Europe, central europe certainly has a lot of variations of this bread. I’ve also enjoyed the baguette shaped version common across Spain many times.
I come to you from the heart of the USA, prime sunflower country where certain times of the year we all flock to local sunflower fields to force our loved ones to take amazing pictures in hot buggy gloriousness.
So, this type of bread has always seemed like it belongs here!
The slightly nutty seeds make the best foil for sandwiches. I love a turkey, bacon, lettuce and avocado on sunflower seed bread! (Now as I write this I haven’t had lunch yet and I’m starving just thinking about it!)
This makes a hearty toast for breakfast that will stick to your ribs all morning, or a great dunker for roasted red pepper soup.
I like to double this and freeze a loaf, we go through it quickly so freezing the whole loaf is fine but you could freeze it in slices if you’d rather.
If you’re looking for traditional soft puffy white sandwich bread I have that recipe right HERE If you’d rather BUY a loaf I tested out some supermarket brands HERE
Happy Baking,
Rachel
