Cooking Class for Ukraine
Gluten Free Crepes - Savory and Sweet featuring Special Preparations of Crispy Brasovence and Buttery Nalisniki
Dear friends,
Those of you who know me well, know that I have a special place in my heart for Eastern Europe, my husband is Romanian, the next door neighbor of Ukraine, a place where refugees are currently pouring through from the nearby war, tired and hungry. I see the images on the news, and I want to do something, anything to help. I’m sure you’ve felt it too. So, on next Wednesday March 23rd, I’ll be teaching a pay what you can online cooking class in collaboration with #CookForUkraine. This is a movement made up of top chefs, food writers, restaurant owners and home cooks who are raising funds to aid children and families in Ukraine during this humanitarian crisis.
I’ll be donating 100% of the proceeds from my class to benefit World Central Kitchen - in fact, I’m having you donate directly to them via my fundraising page to make sure your donation is tax deductible for you. I selected this organization because they are an incredible team of culinary professionals who go into the places who need them the most to feed hungry people. From their website:
“On February 24, Russia launched a large-scale attack on neighboring Ukraine, invading the country on several fronts. As a result, more than one million Ukrainians have fled their homes in search of safety, with many more expected to follow. Working at a 24-hour pedestrian border crossing in southern Poland, WCK began serving hot, nourishing meals immediately. Now, we've expanded our efforts to serve people across the region in Romania, Moldova, and Hungary. WCK is also partnering with restaurants inside of Ukraine to get hot meals to anyone in need.”
You can learn more about their work here: https://donate.wck.org/team/413995
I invite you to join me in my class, Crepes - Savory and Sweet with Fillings from Romania and Ukraine. In this 1 hour class, you’ll learn how to make fantastic crepes and a couple of stellar filling recipes from one of my favorite areas in the world. All recipes are gluten-free.
To raise funds, I ask that you donate any amount you’d like, whatever your budget allows, let’s help change the world. A suggested donation of $20 per device is greatly appreciated.
I’d love to have you join me as we cook together in support of those in desperate need. To sign up for this class, simply make your donation to our team page and then email me at rachelciordas@gmail.com. https://donate.wck.org/team/413995
Finally, I kindly ask that you share this class and donation page with anyone you know who would be interested in offering their support through attending my class.
Thank you,
Rachel Ciordas
